I supposed I had better start somewhere, and I’ve been staring at this “coming soon” page too long. So, perhaps I’ll start with the story of the little quilt that forms the banner on this page.
This is a small wall quilt I made in response to an invitation from the State of California for entries to an online quilt show in celebration of the sesquicentennial of the California State Parks system. For those of you who have not visited California, we are blessed with many lovely public parklands. Quilters were invited to choose their favorite, and make a quilt to honor it. My choice was Mount Tamalpais in Mill Valley, California. My family moved there in 1962, when my father got a job in San Francisco, and I lived there until I moved away from home permanently in around 1972. It is a beautiful place, and we spent many hours on our mountain. The quilt very nearly captures the view from our front room, where we watched the fog roll in on many an afternoon. I was humbled and honored to have my quilt included in the online show, among many very beautiful entries. For those who would like to see it, the entire show can be viewed at http://www.150.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=27534.
